Aren’t You Giving Others much Control Over You?

We may appear independent, but are we truly independent in our thoughts? It’s an important question to reflect on. Often, we allow the words or actions of others to affect our mental and emotional well-being, sometimes for days, months, or even years. Yes, we’re human and it’s normal to feel hurt, but we don’t have to become prisoners of others in our minds.

The Bible encourages us in Proverbs 4:23 to “guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the issues of life.” This means we have a responsibility to protect our inner world.

You have the power to shift your focus, from worrying about others’ opinions to embracing how God sees you. If you’re unsure how He sees you: know this, God sees you as His beloved child, uniquely created, deeply loved, and full of potential. Despite your flaws and scars, He sees your value and calls you a new creation in Christ, forgiven, restored, and whole.

When you surrender your life to Him, you experience a peace and warmth that nothing else can offer. So today, welcome him to your life and if you have already, choose to see yourself through God’s eyes, not through the lens of others’ opinions.

If you feel imprisoned by someone’s words or past experiences, it’s time to be free. Sending you peace and love.
